A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to answer and manage the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server can receive routine technical information about the visit:

- Referring website, when supplied

- Approximate time spent on pages

No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal records is maintained, compiled, or sold here. The published material identifies how Sawyer County records may be requested from the Sheriff's Office, circuit court, Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, and Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry / WiStaySafe, administered by Wisconsin DOC. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms govern information entered in those tools, including retention and sharing choices that we do not control. Read the applicable partner policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Wisconsin agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select targeted ads.

We do not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless be handled by:

Applicable law may provide additional rights based on a visitor's residence. Access to Wisconsin government records is governed separately by the Wisconsin Public Records Law, sections 19.31 through 19.39. Wisconsin criminal-history fees, identification records, and fingerprint submissions are addressed in Wisconsin Statutes sections 165.82 through 165.84. A visitor may ask to:
